Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles Involved In Serious Road Accident And Flips £105,000 Mercedes

Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles was involved in a serious traffic incident on Wednesday morning and saw his £105,000 Mercedes flipped.

The incident occurred near Enfield on the M25 at approximately 6 a.m., but Maitland-Niles was unhurt.

The 23-year-old was photographed on social media standing by the side of the road, inspecting the damage.

An Arsenal spokesperson told The Sun: “We’re aware of a car accident involving Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Ainsley is unhurt and at home.”

Maitland-Niles, an England international, spent the second part of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion in order to get more first-team experience.

Despite the fact that the Baggies were relegated from the Premier League, Maitland-Niles made a strong impression in his 12 outings.

He was also called up to the Three Lions team for the first time last season, and he made his debut against Denmark in September.

“Police were contacted at around 6:10 a.m. to complaints of two cars colliding on the M25 anticlockwise lane at junction 25,” a police spokeswoman said.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. There were no reports of any injuries and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

Despite having progressed through the club’s Hale End academy system, Maitland-Niles stated earlier this year that it could be time to move on.

When the youngster’s preferred position is in midfield, manager Mikel Arteta has started using him as a wing-back.

He told the Telegraph: “I want a decision. I want some clarity. And then hopefully I can get to work with whoever I need to get to work with.

“Whether that is finding a new club or whether that is carrying on with my training. I would like some kind of indication of what is happening. Where they [Arsenal] see me.

“If it works out it works out, if it doesn’t then kiss Arsenal goodbye. It’s been a long journey but a proud one at that.

“Maybe they still want to do something and things could change. If not, there’s always other teams.

“It would be easier to do it now than waiting for pre-season to kick in and everything is super busy.

“And they can’t answer their phones because they are doing too much work. You know how the football world works.”
