Carlo Ancelotti Demands Florentino Perez To Get Serie A Star

Carlo Ancelotti has demanded Real Madrid to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports in Italy.

After the Spanish giants have lost Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in recent weeks, Ancelotti is reportedly set on bringing the Napoli player to Madrid to fill this defensive hole.

According to the Italian publication Calciomercato, the Real Madrid manager has asked president Florentino Perez to spend the cash on the Senegalese defender which could be up to £50 million.

Even though Koulibaly has been one of the best defenders in Europe over the past five years, this would be a significant purchase for a player who has just turned 30 years old and for a club who are suffering financially.

During Ancelotti’s time as head coach of Everton, he was asked about the player and said: “Koulibaly is the best centre-back in the world – and he has more room for improvement. He is worth £130 million and he is non-transferable.”

Whilst the Italian manager is keen on the player, Madrid’s financial situation and Napoli’s desire to fend off any interested buyers may mean that the transfer is unlikely.

Newly appointed Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti reassured Napoli fans that he wants to keep hold of the player as he is crucial for the upcoming Serie A season.

He said: “To keep him, I will chain myself somewhere. Find me something and I’ll chain myself there.”
