It was announced on Saturday afternoon that Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jamaica international Leon Bailey subject to the player completing a medical and finalising personal terms.
A deal to sign the talented winger could be finalised by early next week, according to The Athletic, who also report that Dean Smith’s side will spend in the region of £30 million on Bailey’s services. So what are they getting for their money?
Based on his performances in the Bundesliga last season, where he scored nine goals and assisted eight times, the pacey 23-year-old will likely play in the right-wing position at Villa Park alongside the likes of Ollie Watkins and Emi Buendia.

Whether fellow attacker Jack Grealish, who has been linked with a £100 million move to Manchester City in recent days, will be joined by Bailey in the first-team next season remains to be seen but Villa fans will no doubt be excited by this latest addition.
The former Genk forward, who has made 10 appearances for Jamaica since his debut in 2019, has showcased his incredible speed throughout his time in the Bundesliga and, combine that with an impressive set of skill moves, we expect to see fireworks.

Perhaps one of his best goals for Leverkusen came in January 2018, when he pulled off a quite sublime backheel finish against Hoffenheim. After receiving the ball from the right-wing, Bailey turned his back to goal and scored with an audacious finish.
