Liverpool Offer First Team Duo Up As Part Of Deal For La Liga Star

Liverpool are reportedly set to offer TWO first-team players in an attempt to capture one of their main transfer targets.

Liverpool could offer up one of either Divock Origi or Xherdan Shaqiri in a bid to land Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid this summer.

Diego Simeone is thought to be prepared to listen to offers for the Spanish midfielder, with Barcelona also keen on snapping up the 26-year-old.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Liverpool have had their opening bid of £34 million rejected, with Atletico not budging on their £42 million valuation.

urgen Klopp is looking for a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, after letting the Dutch international leave on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds have been linked with a host of players including including Youri Tielemans, who would fit perfectly into Klopp’s side.

However, Saul appears to be the name cropping up most often in talks.

The talented midfielder has been a large cog in Simeone’s side for a number of years, making 337 appearances and scoring 43 goals.

But the box-to-box star played a limited role in Atletico’s recent title-winning campaign and is keen to move to a club that can guarantee him first-team football.

The Express claim transfer chief Michael Edwards may look to put a player-plus-cash deal on the table including Origi or Shaqiri in order to lure Saul away from Madrid.

Origi has spent the majority of his Liverpool career as an impact substitute, benching behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Last season’s acquisition of Diogo Jota has pushed the Belgian even further down the pecking order.

Should Atletico want a player who can fill the void that Saul would leave, then Shaqiri may be a more viable option for them.

The playmaker enjoyed a successful Euro 2020 campaign with Switzerland but seems to have his opportunities under Klopp limited going forward.
