Manchester City are edging closer to sealing a move for England playmaker Jack Grealish after opening negotiations in recent weeks.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he said: “Manchester City are now in direct contact with Aston Villa for Jack Grealish. Negotiations ongoing to reach an agreement – not gonna take long, decision to be made in the next days.
“Aston Villa have already offered Grealish a new contract. They hope to keep him.”

This news has arrived today after The Athletic revealed earlier this week that the Premier League Champions are in “advanced” talks with Villa and the player concerning a “big-money transfer” which could reportedly reach £100 million.
The Citizens manager Pep Guardiola sees Jack Grealish as a valuable addition to the squad as he would be able to slot him in midfield alongside Kevin De Bruyne.
Even though Villa have offered Grealish a new contract to try keep him at the club, when speaking on The Football Terrace freelance journalist Pete O’Rourke said: “The latest I’m hearing on this one is Manchester City are really confident of getting this deal over the line. It’ll probably be a new Premier League transfer record as well.
“Probably close to £100m for Grealish, but the signals that Man City are getting are that they think this deal can get done and will get over the line. And Jack Grealish will be a Manchester City player for the start of the new season.”
It would not be the first time that a Villa player has moved to the blue side of Manchester as midfielders James Milner, Gareth Barry and Fabian Delph have the done same to win the Premier League title.

Despite the Villa fans’ loyal support and love for the England international, Grealish will undoubtedly struggle to turn down the offer of playing for Pep Guardiola and challenge for title.
