Paul Pogba Rejects New Manchester United Deal As PSG Eye Move

Paul Pogba has rejected Manchester United’s offer of a new contract, with a move to PSG this summer looking more likely to happen.

Pogba’s contract has just one year remaining, meaning he could walk away from United for nothing at the end of the upcoming season.

Despite the criticism that has often been laid at the midfielder, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like Pogba to sign a new deal and stay at the club.

However, according to the Canal Supporters, the World Cup winner has rejected an offer from the Premier League club.

Get Football News France refer to the French outlet as ‘reliably informed,’ and the report goes on to say that the player is close to agreeing a provisional contract with PSG.

Whilst United would like the 28-year-old to stay at Old Trafford beyond next summer, they won’t want to see him leave for free for a second time.

The club have reportedly set a £50 million transfer fee for the former Juventus player, who left Manchester for Turin when his contract expired in 2012 and then returned for around £90 million in 2016.

As well as being important for United not to lose one of their best players for nothing, Pogba’s transfer this summer could help Solskjaer’s transfer plans.

United finally confirmed the signing of Jadon Sancho last week, after over a year of pursuing the Borussia Dortmund winger.

Then on Tuesday night, the club also confirmed that they’d agreed a move in principal with Real Madrid for centre back Raphael Varane.

One report has said that Solskjaer was given a £100 million transfer budget for the 2021/22 campaign and the two deals have completely wiped that out.

The manager still wants to add a right back and a defensive midfielder to his squad and so Pogba’s potential sale, and the sale of some squad players, is important for those deals.

Last week, PSG fans responded to the news that Paris born Pogba could be on the way back to the French capital with a banner outside the Parc des Princes and the club’s training ground, telling him they don’t want him there.

The Ligue 1 giants have already signed Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi, as they look to recapture the league title and finally win the Champions League.
