Chelsea Make Huge Money + Player Offer To Sign Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea have had a huge bid of £85.4m, or €100m, rejected for Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku.

It is believed that Marcos Alonso was also also involved in the bid as the out of favour left wing back attempts to revitalise his career, according to the Guardian.

After seemingly giving up on the signing of Borussia Dortmund centre forward Erling Haaland, who looks set to remain at the German outfit for at least another season having secured Champions League qualifications, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel remains keen to sign a striker.

Lukaku, who was at Chelsea previously before being let go, has reestablished himself as one of Europe’s leading front men, scoring 24 goals and creating a further 11 goals in Serie A last season. The Belgian’s tally led to Inter Milan being crowned league champions.

The somewhat disappointing season that Timo Werner had for the Blues last season has led to Chelsea looking to sign a world class striker and build on last season’s unexpected Champions League delight.

Inter are in a position where a significant offer could tempt them into selling Lukaku, as their financial difficulties have forced them into selling top assets already.

Achraf Hakimi was sold to French giants PSG for £65m, while the man who led Inter to the Serie A title, Antonio Conte, was forced into leaving after just one season at the club due to a lack of backing.

Chelsea have allowed Olivier Giroud to leave the club for AC Milan, while Tammy Abraham is also up for sale, meaning they need more strength in depth up front.

It is likely that the only way a deal for Lukaku wouldn’t be pulled off is if Inter raise funds by selling Lautaro Martinez, who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
