Cristiano Ronaldo gave his stamp of approval for Manchester United’s new signing Raphael Varane after he was unveiled in front of the Old Trafford faithful.
Before United’s 5-1 victory over their rivals Leeds United, Varane was introduced to the Manchester United fans as the club were finally able to complete the deal.
The French superstar was greeted with a huge standing ovation from the crowds as Old Trafford was back to full capacity for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic last year.
Rio Ferdinand shared the moment on social media including his greeting of Varane where Ronaldo commented “Grande” in response to the video.
Ronaldo will be aware of the qualities that Varane will bring to the Premier League as they played alongside each other for several years at Real Madrid as both were crucial in leading their team to four Champions League titles.

As Manchester United look to challenge for four major trophies this season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes that the French centre-back will be one of the final pieces of the jigsaw that will help guide the club to silverware after not winning a trophy since 2017.
In the aftermath of Saturday’s big win to kick off the Premier League season, the Manchester United boss spoke about Varane’s arrival: “I haven’t spoken to him after the game. But, of course, it was a nice moment for him and it was a nice moment for the fans, them together, they look forward to seeing them, he looks forward to seeing his teammates.
“I’m looking forward to working with him. Top professional, I’ve followed his career throughout and you just see the way he conducts himself, the way he lives his life.
“All the chats I’ve had with him and the club has had with him, we’ve got a top human being and a top player.”
