Cristiano Ronaldo ‘Offers Himself’ To Manchester City As Harry Kane Alternative

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo could return to the Premier League and join bitter rivals Manchester City during this summer’s transfer window, according to sensational reports in Italy.

The Juventus ace has just ten months left to run on his £25.5m-a-year contract at the Old Lady and his future in Turin is far from certain.

And now, in an extraordinary turn of events, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered United’s noisy neighbours the chance to sign the Portuguese phenomenon.

Cristiano Ronaldo previously vowed he would never play for Manchester United’s cross-town rivals

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, anyway, who claims that the 36-year-old could turn out in the blue half of Manchester this season..

The report suggests that the Italian giants would be willing to sell Ronaldo to City for just £25m, with the club said to be keen on offloading him in a desperate bid to get him off their wage bill.

Pep Guardiola’s side have so far been frustrated in their attempts to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur with their need for more firepower up front evident in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Spurs.

City are expected to make an improved offer on the £100m bid that was rejected earlier this summer, but the north London club are playing hardball over their £150m price tag.

Just like Kane, Ronaldo would arrive with the promise of goals, with the former Real Madrid star finishing last season as Serie A‘s top scorer with 29 goals.

In his three years with Juve, Ronaldo has chalked up a staggering 101 goals in just 133 appearances across all competitions.

But any potential switch to the Etihad Stadium would, almost certainly, shatter the legendary status that Ronaldo enjoys across Manchester at Old Trafford.

On the face of it, a move to the Etihad would be seen as a betrayal, especially with Ronaldo having always held a strong bond with United fans, but stranger things have happened, right?
