Kylian Mbappe is reportedly interested in taking the number five shirt at Real Madrid – as that is the number worn by his idol, Zinedine Zidane.
Madrid made a £137 million bid for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Mbappe on Tuesday evening but saw their bid turned down.
It’s the 22-year-old’s dream to play for ‘Los Blancos’ and according to AS, he’s even willing to take a strange number.
The France international’s idol is fellow countryman Zinedine Zidane and he isn’t against being given number five, which Zizou wore at the Bernabeu.

Madrid’s number five is currently vacant following Raphael Varane’s summer transfer to Manchester United.
Mbappe currently wears number seven for PSG and that shirt is occupied by Eden Hazard.
He wears number 10 for France and at club level, Madrid legend Luka Modric has ownership.
Madrid are expected to make another move for Mbappe who has just one year left on his PSG contract.
PSG sporting director Leonardo addressed the rumours and said Mbappe gave him his word he would not walk on a free transfer.

He told RMC Sports per GFFN: “Kylian Mbappe wants to leave, that seems clear. If Real Madrid are making an offer, that seems clear… Me I am giving a position, that, I think, is clear for everyone.
“We cannot, the week before the end of the window, change our plans. If he wants to leave, we will not hold him back, but on our terms.
“We do not plan to speak with Real Madrid again. The deadline is 31st August at midnight. That is how the transfer window works, for us it is clear: we keep him and we extend him.
“But we are not going to allow someone to leave for a fee of less than we paid for him when we still owe Monaco money.

“We are not preparing anything on the market at the moment. He has another year on his contract, we want to extend him.
“We have never thought about a Plan B. We have created a very positive atmosphere. We are not going to let anyone change that.”
