Poland defender Kamil Glik appeared to pinch Kyle Walker by the throat during Poland’s 1-1 draw with England on Wednesday evening.

It was an intense game in Warsaw and one incident just before half-time caught everyone’s attention.

The hosts were given a free-kick and as Walker protested, Glik grabbed his face and gave beneath his chin a pull.

Walker didn’t look pleased by the action but didn’t react in an over the top manner.

England have reported the incident to the match referees and FIFA will look into the matter further.

Glik was then involved in more drama at half-time after claiming he’d been fouled as that free-kick was taken.

The Benevento man started a minor scuffle and he was booked alongside Three Lions defender Harry Maguire.

When asked about the issue between Glik and Walker, England manager Gareth Southgate told BBC Radio 5 Live

: “We’re getting to grips with what that was.

“There’s been a report put in and we need to find out a little bit more about what’s happened. At the moment we’re still gathering all the evidence so there’s no point in me speculating any further.”

He then added in his post-match press conference: “We’re trying to find out exactly what happened and when we know more then we will let people know.”

England dropped points for the first time in their bid to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Harry Kane gave his side the lead with a long-range effort which caught Wojciech Szczesny out.

But Damian Szymanski powered a header past Jordan Pickford a minute into stoppage time to snatch a point.

Southgate didn’t use a single substitution in the game and attempted to justify his decision.

“We were very comfortable and in total control so it would have been making substitutions for the sake of it really, and that can disrupt the rhythm we had,” the 51-year-old told Sky Sports News.

“I have absolutely no doubt that will be questioned but we didn’t see that was needed.”

England had won their last two games 4-0, against Hungary and Andorra respectively.

They return to action in October against those two teams in reverse fixtures.
