Emiliano Martinez absolutely loves trash-talking to opposition players before penalties.

The Aston Villa man was the talk of the town on Saturday afternoon after daring Cristiano Ronaldo to step up and take the 92nd minute penalty Manchester United were awarded at Old Trafford.

Martinez pointed at the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and appeared to shout, “You take it!”.

But instead, regular penalty taker Fernandes assumed responsibilities and looked good value to score.

However, the Portuguese star blazed his effort over the bar and into the Stretford End – with Martinez celebrating by doing a thrusting dance in front of the home fans.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper has quite the knack for getting inside of player’s heads. Just hark back to his antics at this year’s Copa America, specifically in Argentina’s shoot-out win over Colombia.

Martinez proved to be the hero in the semi-final, saving three spot-kicks. He guessed right but a key factor in his successful saves was the way in which he put opponents off.

As Everton centre-back Yerry Mina prepared to take his kick, Martinez told him: “You’re nervous, eh? I can tell you’re nervous” “I know where you’re going to shoot. Watch and see how I’m gonna eat you up.”

Unable to block out the trash-talking Mina missed from 12 yards.

Then, when substitute Miguel Borja stepped up, Martinez was at it again.

He continued: “Are you scared? Come on p***y. You were running your mouth during halftime, huh? So you like to wait, huh?

“Martinez, Martinez, Martinez. Don’t say such words. Where are you going brother? I know you, huh.

“So you like looking, huh? Come on look me in the face. Look at me!”

Borja made no mistake from the spot but Martinez denied both Cardona and Davinson Sanchez and was called a “phenomenon” by Lionel Messi for his performance.
