Cometh the hour cometh the man is a sentence made for Lionel Messi, as the Argentinian superstar netted two goals to secure 3-2 comeback victory for Paris Saint Germain over RB Leipzig.
Kylian Mbappé had put PSG on course for all three points with a ninth-minute strike, before the Germans hit back to turn the game on its head thanks to Andre Silva and Nordi Mukiele.
But Messi then entered the fray to score his second and third Champions League goals for his new club, rescuing all three points for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

His second was a close-range finish from inside the box, but the third was a penalty that was executed in some style. Messi waited for Hungarian shot-stopper Péter Gulácsi to dive his left-hand side, before chipping the ball straight down the middle of the net.
The 34-year-old has now scored all three of his PSG goals to date in the Champions League and is still waiting for his first goals in Ligue 1.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Just before the full-time whistle was blown at the Parc des Princes, the hosts were awarded another penalty and it looked as if Messi was going to notch his first hat-trick for PSG.
However, Mbappe stepped up instead and the Frenchman’s wild effort flew over the crossbar.

Neymar’s reaction in the stands said it all…
But despite Mbappe’s gaffe from the spot, PSG now sit top of their Champions League group following the 3-2 victory over Leipzig.
The French side have some very tough games to come, though.
They have to play Leipzig away in their next match, before a trip to England to play Pep Guardiola’s awesome City side.
PSG will certainly need some more Messi magic in the Champions League if they’re going to remain in first place in their group, that’s for sure.
