Mohamed Salah scored an early contender for Premier League Goal of the Season during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The 29-year-old received the ball 25 yards from goal and danced his way into the box before outfoxing Aymeric Laporte and lashing the ball into the far corner of the net past Ederson.
It was an exquisite goal that deserves to be remembered for many, many years to come.
Unfortunately for Salah and Liverpool, though, City equalised shortly afterwards through Kevin De Bruyne.
Liverpool would have ended the international break top of the Premier League table had they successfully protected their one-goal advantage after Salah’s moment of magic.
Instead, Jurgen Klopp’s side now sit second, one point behind league-leaders Chelsea.
Mo Salah’s goal with Peter Drury’s commentary
How do you make a world-class goal even better? Add Peter Drury’s commentary to it, of course.
The Brit, who was providing commentary on the game for a US audience, is regarded by many football fans as one of the best commentators in the business right now.
And Liverpool fans loved his commentary for Salah’s magnificent solo effort against City.
During the move itself, Drury said: “Salah… Escaped Cancelo – oh, that’s brilliant from Mo Salah! And still… Salah! Oh, sensational! Absolutely sen-sational! Stellar!”

Huge shame we had to listen to Gary Neville and Martin Tyler instead of this. pic.twitter.com/TfvRSkXjzk

Then, during the replay, Drury said: “That is PlayStation football! It’s ridiculous. You cannot do that without a joystick!”

And here’s some of the best reaction to Drury’s commentary for the Salah goal:
Martin Tyler’s effort over on Sky Sports for a UK audience wasn’t bad, either.
The veteran commentator receives more than his fair share of stick on social media these days but both him and Drury have been masters of their craft for decades between them and deserve huge respect as a result.
