Neymar magical highlights v Uruguay prove we should never take him for granted

Brazil continued their dominance in South America’s 2022 World Cup qualifying group during the early hours of Friday morning UK time.

The Selecao beat Uruguay 4-1 in the Arena da Amazonia thanks to goals from Neymar, Raphinha (x2) and Gabriel Barbosa.

Brazil sit top of the 10-team qualifying group with 31 points from their 11 games and a goal difference of +22.

They’re certainly going to be one of the main contenders for World Cup glory out in Qatar next winter, especially if Neymar is fully fit for the tournament.

The 29-year-old’s start to the 2021/22 season with Paris Saint-Germain has been tepid at best but against Uruguay, the fleet-footed forward reminded the world why he’s still such a special footballer.

Neymar was unplayable throughout the match and as well as his goal – which took him to 70 overall on the international stage – Brazil’s main man contributed two assists, created four big chances and played eight key passes.

That’s a masterclass of epic proportions and footage of his individual highlights from the victory over Uruguay really is a treat for the eyes.

So sit back, relax and watch him weave his unique magic here…

It’s simple, the man is an absolute genius.

When Neymar plays like that, there isn’t a single player on the planet who is more entertaining to watch – and that includes his PSG teammate Lionel Messi.

The performance seen above is a stern reminder that we as football fans should not take Neymar for granted over the next couple of years.

We say that because earlier this week, the former Barcelona man opened up in an interview about how he’s struggling to cope mentally with the pressures of the sport.

“I think it’s my last World Cup [in 2022],” Neymar told DAZN. “I see it as my last because I don’t know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football anymore.

“So I’ll do everything to turn up well, do everything to win with my country, to realise my greatest dream since I was little. And I hope I can do it.”

You really have to respect Neymar for being so honest.

Enjoy him while you can, folks.
