Barcelona Name Incredibly Low Asking Price For Ousmane Dembele, Two English Sides Ready To Bid

Ousmane Dembele has been told that Barcelona want to sell him this month, and the forward’s price tag is reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League.

Dembele’s current contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and the club have been desperately trying to sign him to a new one.

Cynics had suggested the club were going to sell him once he’d signed the new deal but, with them failing to get his signature, the club put out a statement last week saying they are going to sell him in January.

Whilst the player isn’t too impressed with being forced out it does look like he has options with both Newcastle United and Manchester United supposedly interested.

According to Le Parisien, the reason the two English sides are looking at him is because of the paltry £17 million price tag, that would see Barca make a huge loss on the France forward.

They signed Dembele in 2017, as they looked to replace Neymar, who’d just moved to PSG for a world record £198 million transfer fee.

The former Rennes player had only been at Borussia Dortmund for a season, after they paid around £30 million for, but his form meant a huge increase in his value.

Barca paid up to £126 million for his services, but things really haven’t turned out as expected, with injuries and form affecting his progress at the Nou Camp.

It is Dembele’s fifth season and the 24-year-old has played just 129 games for the Catalan giants in all competitions so far, scoring 31 times.

Newcastle could be the perfect move for Dembele, with Eddie Howe’s side now flush with cash following their Saudi takeover at the end of last year.

The Premier League relegation strugglers have already signed Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood in the current window and have been linked with a number of others.

Creative players such as Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli have been mentioned as potential targets and a move for Dembele could be perfect for them.

Manchester United seem a less likely option in January, with the club still being managed by interim boss Ralf Rangnick and looking unlikely to add to their squad this month.
