Liverpool completely outclassed Manchester United for the second time this season on Tuesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side ran out 4-0 winners, following up on their 5-0 victory at Old Trafford earlier this season.

In truth, it could have been even worse at Anfield.

Liverpool had 72% possession with the visiting side having just one shot on target during the entire 90 minutes. United couldn’t get close to their opponents, epitomised by the fact they only gave away one foul in the first half.

It was so one-sided.

It was a match that summed up the seasons for the two sides.

Liverpool are still dreaming of a historic quadruple, while Manchester United will finish the campaign trophy less – and most likely outside of the top-four.

After years of United dominating the north west rivalry, Liverpool are very much enjoying their superiority.

And the supporters are making the most of it.

That was very much the case on Tuesday.

And nothing summed that up better than what happened at the start of the second half.

Liverpool were 2-0 up and in control. However, the start of the second half was delayed after referee Martin Atkinson had a problem with some technical equipment.

The 22 players on the pitch kept warm by passing the ball around their team while they waited for Atkinson.

What United probably didn’t expect was to be cheered by the Liverpool fans for every pass they made. Sarcastically cheered that is.

The away side had barely strung two passes together in the first half so the home crowd decided to mock them with every touch ahead of the second half.

The sheer disrespect.

It sums up the gulf between the two sides right now that even the Anfield supporters are humiliating the Manchester United players.
