Mohamed Salah is hungry for more at Liverpool.

On the back of a stunning 2021/22 season that started with Ballon d’Or-contending form, Salah showed his loyalty to the Merseyside club by extending his stay at Anfield with a new long-term contract.

As such, Kopites just know that Salah is fully focussed on adding to his Reds trophy cabinet that already boasts Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup silverware.

And with Manchester City having acquired none other than Erling Braut Haaland for their already stacked ranks, Liverpool will need nothing less than a world-beating Salah on their hands if they want to secure the biggest trophies.

So it’s no wonder that Liverpool fans have been rubbing their hands together at the sight of the 30-year-old absolutely killing it in pre-season training.

With the Premier League giants now putting in the hard yards in Austria having first kicked off proceedings across South East Asia, Salah has been showcasing the fantastic shape he finds himself in ahead of 2022/23.

Liverpool’s trickery drill

Not only did the Egyptian star find place highly in a brutal running drill – though, still behind James Milner, of course – but he also showed the world that his finishing and dribbling is looking razor sharp.

That’s because the latest video in Liverpool’s ‘Inside Training’ series showed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott taking on a fascinating drill that centred around trickery.

As Pepijn Lijnders describes in the video, the Liverpool players need to try and score in one of two goals either side of them when receiving passes from around the pitch with a defender eventually being added into the mix.

Once the opposing player is thrown into the equation, the attacker is encourage to ‘trick’ them with their footwork in order to break free and finish into either one of the goals.

Mo Salah outshines everybody

And while Diaz, Nunez and Elliott all produced flashes of brilliance during the drill, everyone was in agreement in the comments that Salah was in a league of his own as he scored every single chance that made the video.

Whether it was first-time finishes when there was no pressure on him at all or ruthless strikes having wiggled away from the defender’s grasp, it really did feel as though Salah had the Midas touch.

So, be sure to get excited about just how sharp Salah is looking ahead of the new season by watching him destroy Liverpool’s trickery drill with finish after finish after finish.

2022/23 isn’t ready for Salah

Look, please don’t think for a second that we’re pooh-poohing the performances of Diaz, Nunez and Elliott because their brighter moments in the drill showed exactly the sort of quality they bring for the Reds.

But if anything, their own top-class quality just contextualises Salah’s glorious output, showing that the drill is by no means easy and that being able to score every single time is even tougher.

Plus, let’s face it, being negatively compared to Salah is hardly a crushing insult. It’s like saying that an absolutely stunning Lamborghini isn’t any good because it’s not as fast as a Bugatti Veyron.

However it is you look at it, though, the moral of the story is that Salah has clearly got the bit between his teeth in pre-season training because you can’t be finishing that lethally and not be feeling in tip-top condition.

Brace yourselves, Premier League defenders, there’s a storm coming.
