For one last time, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi did battle with one another on a football pitch.

The two footballers, revered by many as the greatest in history, both featured in Thursday’s epic match between Riyadh Season Team and Paris Saint-Germain.

It was quite the evening at the King Fahd International Stadium, which recently hosted the Spanish and Italian Super Cup finals.

PSG eventually secured a 5-4 victory, despite the fact Juan Bernat was shown a straight red card on 34 minutes when the scores were level at 1-1.

Both Messi and Ronaldo were on the scoresheet, the latter bagging a brace on his way to being named the Man of the Match.

Yeah, it was quite the evening in Saudi Arabia’s capital city, one those lucky enough to be there in the flesh will never, ever forget.

The last chance to see Ronaldo and Messi in a match against each other? Yeah, that’s some experience right there.

What made it even better was the clear shows of respect between the two Ballon d’Or hoarders.

After a touching moment in the tunnel prior to kick-off, Ronaldo and Messi had a quick embrace just seconds before the on-pitch action started.

And the full fan footage of that exact moment is just so, so good…

The fans in the stadium were loving it – as was everyone watching around the world.

We will likely never see a sporting rivalry quite like the one between Ronaldo and Messi again. Or at least not for many, many years.

When will Ronaldo make his Al-Nassr debut?

After his first showing since swapping Manchester United for the Middle East, the focus will now turn to Ronaldo’s full debut for his new club Al-Nassr.

That’s likely to come on Sunday against Ettifaq, now the Portugal international has served his two-match suspension.

Will Ronaldo score on debut? Well, we can’t say for certain, but given how low the Saudi Professional League is ranked in world terms, it’d be a huge shock if he doesn’t.

Ronaldo and debut goals go hand-in-hand as well…
