Real Madrid plotting move for Jude Bellingham’s England teammate amid contract uncertainty

Reports in Spain claim that Real Madrid are plotting a sensational move for one of Jude Bellingham’s England teammates.

Real Madrid are eight points clear at the top of La Liga and are preparing for a Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City, yet the Spanish giants are already making plans for next season.

With a number of Carlo Ancelotti’s players approaching the tale-end of their careers, the club have signed a number of talented youngster over the last few transfer windows.

Last summer saw Jude Bellingham move to the Bernabeu, and now it looks like Madrid will try to convince his England teammate to join him.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Los Blancos are closely monitoring the contract situation of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold, with a view to signing him either this summer or next.

The English full-back is a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, yet his future at Anfield is uncertain.

Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool contract is set to expire in 2025, and so far he has not agreed to an extension.

According to Relevo, negotiations between player and club have not progressed in recent times.

The report states that while there has not been any contact between Real Madrid and Liverpool as of yet, Madrid’s interest in the 25-year-old is serious as they view him as a player who could play a key role in their project.

The Liverpool academy graduate’s intentions are not currently known, as he has given no indication of his future plans.

Real Madrid have form for signing players whose contracts are expiring, meaning they can get them for reduced fees.

That was the case when they signed Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich in 2014 and Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes in 2021.

Madrid are attempting to do the same with Bayern’s Alphonso Davies, who contract with the Bundesliga giants expires in 2025.

The serial Champions League winners have signed several stars as free agents, including Antonio Rudiger, and are expected to do the same with Kylian Mbappe this summer when the striker leaves Paris Saint-Germain.
