Real Madrid decide which Man City player to sign this summer after Champions League game

Real Madrid have decided which Manchester City player they want to sign this summer after knocking them out of the Champions League.

Los Blancos defeated City on penalties after two thrilling games saw their quarter-final tie finish 4-4 on aggregate.

It denies Guardiola’s men of back-to-back European titles and the potential for two trebles in a row as they remain on course to win the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Widely seen as the two best teams in Europe currently it was always going to be a tight contest and 14-time winners Madrid were the ones who narrowly prevailed.

The Spanish giants have since been linked with several of City’s top stars, and according to a recent report in The Daily Star, they have jumped to the front of the queue for playmaker Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese international is said to have attracted significant interest from Europe’s top clubs due to the £50 million release clause in his contract.

Along with Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germian and Arsenal are all monitoring the situation.

However, the report states that his preferred move if he were to leave would be Spain.

The 29-year-old is a familiar face to Carlo Ancelotti and Madrid having faced off against the club in each of the past three years.

His performances seem to have caught the eye despite him disastrously missing a penalty in the quarter-final shootout.

Silva has been an integral part of City’s success under Guardiola and would be a huge loss if he were to leave.

He moved to Manchester back in 2017 after winning the French title with Monaco, a side he also helped guide to the Champions League semi-finals.

At the time the playmaker admitted that the chance to play under Guardiola was one he couldn’t turn down.

It’s paid off as he’s won every trophy possible since his arrival. So maybe now is a good time for a new challenge.
