Aaron Ramsdale has been forced to limit comments on his Instagram feed after being met with a barrage of abuse from Arsenal fans.
The Sheffield United goalkeeper is on the verge of signing for the Gunners, where he will compete with Bernd Leno for the No.1 shirt.
Sheff United were initially holding out for £40 million for Ramsdale but David Ornstein of The Athletic is reportedly the fee be an initial £24 million that could rise to £30 million depending on performance-related bonuses.

Mikel Arteta is high on Ramsdale and had identified the 23-year-old as a main target this summer.
But plenty of Arsenal fans are anything but enthused by the transfer. In fact, many took to the comments section of Ramsdale’s social media and subjected him to vile remarks.
The former Bournemouth man actually hasn’t posted since the Euro 2020 final five weeks ago but has now limited who can reply to him.

It comes after Ramsdale was told to “Burn in motherf***ing hell you piece of s***, stay far away from Arsenal.”
He was also called “a blonde inbred”, a “fraud” and another troll sickeningly wrote: “F*** off man. We don’t want you at
Arsenal. Trust me you’ll be getting abuse every day.”
Now, when you go on to Ramsdale’s comments it is made up of a slew of verified accounts, including many of his England teammates, due to the comment limiting feature being activated.
Fortunately, the Arsenal fans abusing seem to be in the minority as many have condemned the messages sent and displayed support for their imminent new signing.
@AaronRamsdale98 welcome to Arsenal. Ignore all the negative comments. Play your game, work hard and keep developing. Only way to prove people wrong is on the pitch!!!!

The abuse Aaron Ramsdale is getting is absolutely vile. So bad to the point he has limited his Instagram comments. He is joining, do not make him feel unwanted he is a member of the squad now, show him love and support himHe does not deserve the abuse, it isn’t his fault is it.

Aaron Ramsdale has had to turn off his Instagram comments as he is receiving abuse from Arsenal fans.
No player of OURS should be subject to any abuse especially from OUR own fans, instead of abusing the player why don’t you all get behind him. He is an ARSENAL PLAYER! #AFC 🔴⚪

I can totally respect a person not agreeing with #afc decision to sign @AaronRamsdale98, but to hell with anyone who uses that as an excuse to make disparaging comments about him. Personally I can’t wait to have him.

Regardless of how much Arsenal paid for Aaron Ramsdale he is now a gunner and as a fellow gunners we have to support him. I’m hearing that he had to turn off his comments because of the abuse he’s getting. This fan base makes me sick sometimes. He’s 23 making his dream move

Regardless of how we feel about the cost of Aaron Ramsdale, let’s support him and give him the best possible environment to succeed. Let’s not put negative comments against him because, in the end, we all want the best for the club. If he succeeds, we succeed.

Giving a player abuse is and always will be wrong, some of the comments I’ve seen aimed at @AaronRamsdale98 is absurd! Young, home grown talent, that imo definitely deserves his chance 🔴⚪️

Left out of Sheff United’s 4-0 defeat to West Brom on Wednesday night, Ramsdale is expected to sign a four-year contract with the option of a fifth.
He is set to follow Brighton’s Ben White, Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga and Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares in moving to the Emirates, while Martin Odegaard is joining on a permanent deal from Real Madrid following last season’s loan deal.
