Man United Fan Claims Weak Lionel Messi Couldn’t ‘Hack It’ In The Premier League In An Extraordinary Rant

A Manchester United fan has made an absurd claim that Lionel Messi couldn’t “hack it” in the Premier League and England’s top-flight league is “too strong for him.”

Messi, 34, will leave Barcelona this summer after the Spanish club’s bombshell announcement on Thursday.

Barcelona confirmed that it would be unable to sign the Argentine superstar to a deal due to La Liga’s financial regulations, despite both sides agreeing terms over a new contract.

Messi, who is reportedly ‘shocked’ and ‘dejected’ by the announcement, was previously linked with a reunion with former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

However, a move to City now appears unlikely for the Barcelona legend after the Premier League champions acquired Jack Grealish and continue their pursuit of Harry Kane.

One United supporter told talkSPORT that he wouldn’t take Messi at the Red Devils even if he was available on a free transfer.

The fan continued by saying that the six-time Ballon d’Or winner is “brilliant outside the Premier League” and Messi would be “kicked up in the head” if he played in a false nine role for City.

“Don’t talk about this rubbish about Messi coming to United,” he said.

“Messi won’t hack the #PL!” 😱

“It’s the best league in the world. Ronaldo couldn’t hack it, so went & played abroad.”

“Messi won’t even hack the Premier League. That’s why he hasn’t come before now.

“[…] The Premier League is too physical and too quick for people like Messi. He struts around in Spain, he struts around, they let players run at him. If he plays centre midfield for any Premier League team…

“He won’t hack it in the Premier [League]. The Premier League is the best league in the world. That’s why Messi is brilliant outside the Premier League. Outside the Premier League, he’s brilliant.

“If he goes in the Premier League, he’s done it the wrong way around: [Cristiano] Ronaldo did it the right way around. He comes to the Premier League and proves what a guy he is.

“Not just because he played for United, but because he tried it first in the Premier League — couldn’t hack it, so he went abroad. He hacked it, he got his popularity, he learned the game in the Prem and then took it abroad.

“You cannot bring abroad to the [Premier League]. Messi, if he played a false nine for City, first or second game, he’d get kicked up in the head and he won’t wanna know. It’s too strong for him.”
