Defending Premier League holders Manchester City are expected to make a successful title defence against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, according to a supercomputer’s predictions.
Pep Guardiola’s men will win the Premier League for the fourth time in five years, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United separated by just two points, making up the rest of the top four.
City head into the 2021-22 campaign as outright favourites, especially since a big-money move for Sergio Aguero’s replacement seems inevitable, with Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Lautaro Martinez and Andre Silva all on the shortlist to replace Aguero.
Guardiola’s men ran away with last season’s title after a tentative start, winning the league by 12 points ahead of second-placed United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will finish fourth in the new season, according to the supercomputer’s predictions.
The Red Devils recently confirmed the signing of £73m winger Jadon Sancho, but they are said to be chasing deals for Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga before the season commences.

But the supercomputer’s predictions (via Sporting Index) suggest that United will finish behind Liverpool and Chelsea in their bid for the title.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were unable to defend the Premier League title as injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez hampered their chances.
Despite bringing in Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool will finish 11 points behind Man City in the supercomputer’s predictions.
The Reds have lost Georginio Wijnaldum this summer and are yet to replace the Dutch international, but Sporting Index believes they will do enough to pip Chelsea to second place.
Thomas Tuchel’s European champions are expected to bring in a new striker this summer to support Timo Werner after he struggled to get going last term.

North London sides Arsenal and Tottenham are tipped to have significantly better seasons than last year, with both clubs falling well short of expectations last time out.
Arsenal, who finished eighth in the Premier League last year, are expected to have a considerably better season and finish fifth.
Mikel Arteta has made some changes to his Arsenal squad this summer and the Gunners are predicted to finish two points above fierce rivals Spurs.
Tottenham recently appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as their new boss after dismissing Jose Mourinho delivered an under-par campaign.

Spurs will compete in the Europa Conference League next season after finishing seventh in the Premier League last season. If the predictions are correct from the supercomputer, they will finish above Leicester City.
Crystal Palace, Brentford and Watford are expected to be relegated, with two of the newly-promoted sides projected to be sent straight back down to the Championship.
Patrick Viera recently took over the reins at Selhurst Park, but Palace are tipped to be one of the teams to fall short and finish with just 36 points — eight less than their total last season.
