An emotional experience Cristiano Ronaldo sobbed as he watched a previously unseen video of his late father praising him for his accomplishments.
Jose Dinis Aveiro, Ronaldo’s father, died of liver failure at 52 after a long battle with alcoholism.

Ronaldo was just 20 when his father died, but he couldn’t hold back his feelings during a 2019 interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo was shown a video of his father expressing his pride at the former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar’s success during the Good Morning Britain interview.

The 36-year-old Portuguese forward sobbed as he confessed that he “never saw that video.”

“I never saw the video,” Ronaldo told Morgan, a former GMB host. That video was never shown to me. “It’s incredible.”

“I’m not sure where you are… I need these pictures to show my family.

“However, I don’t have a complete understanding of my father.” He was inebriated at the time. I never talked to him as though we were having a regular conversation. It was brutal.”

Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, Ronaldo’s mother, has previously spoken about how difficult it was to be around Aveiro during his alcoholism.

“He was intoxicated almost every day,” the 66-year-old confessed. I never got to know him very well. I would have loved to have seen him more often.
