A viral training clip of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets at Inter Miami showcases an insane level of skill

A video capturing Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets training together at Inter Miami has taken the internet by storm.

Messi recently completed his first week of training with the club after his grand unveiling as an Inter Miami player in a glitzy ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The event was marred by a downpour, leaving the stadium soaked.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner signed a lucrative contract with Inter Miami, extending until 2025, and reportedly earning between $50 million (£38 million) and $60 million (£46 million) annually.

During the ceremony, Messi expressed his emotions about joining Miami and thanked everyone for their warm reception. Notably, Miami has also secured the services of Sergio Busquets on a two-year deal and Spain defender Jordi Alba.

With the trio, who were central to some of Barcelona’s most successful teams, now playing for Miami, fans hope they can replicate some of their past glory in the MLS.

However, the club is currently facing difficulties, sitting at the bottom of the MLS’ Eastern Conference with an 11-game losing streak.

Nevertheless, the arrival of these esteemed players has generated tremendous excitement and anticipation for what they can bring to the team.

Certainly, the emergence of training footage featuring Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets playing a game of head tennis at Inter Miami has excited the club’s fans.

The viral clip showcases the impeccable skills of both players, with Messi winning both points featured in the video.

Despite the friendly nature of the game, the standard of play displayed by the duo, who have each won a World Cup, is top-notch.

This kind of camaraderie and skill on display during training bodes well for Miami’s fans, as it demonstrates the potential impact that Messi and Busquets can have on the team’s performance and success in the MLS.

The video has undoubtedly fueled further excitement and anticipation among Inter Miami supporters for what the two football legends can achieve together at the club.

On Messi’s link-up with Busquets, one person tweeted: “First time he’s enjoying football outside of Argentina and Qatar in two years.”

Another wrote: “A match made in heaven.”

A third person commented with a Blues Brother GIF, in which Jake Blues exclaims: “We’re getting the band back together.”

And the latter statement may in fact, be the case. Indeed, US reports have linked Miami with another former Barcelona player – 36-year-old Uruguay striker Luis Suarez, who is currently plying his trade for Brazil side Gremio.

Suarez played alongside Messi, Busquets and Alba during six seasons at Barcelona between 2014 and 2020.

On the matter Miami owner Jorge Mas said on Tuesday: “There’s been a lot of talk about Luis Suarez coming. We haven’t held direct talks with Gremio or with Suarez.

“I don’t know how Luis Suarez can leave Gremio. But if he does, we are free to talk to Luis and bring him to Inter Miami. That possibility would be there.”
