Alexis Mac Allister made a stellar debut for Liverpool, shining in his first game with the club.
In an impressive start to the 2023/24 season, Liverpool showcased their prowess by scoring four goals against Karlsruher on Wednesday.
The team traveled to Germany to face the 2.Bundesliga side at the BBBank Wildpark.
Under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, a strong lineup featuring Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and new signing Dominik Szoboszlai took the field.
Liverpool wasted no time and took the lead in the third minute courtesy of Darwin Nunez.
However, the German side mounted a comeback and secured a lead five minutes into the second half.
Lars Stindl equalized with an impressive strike, followed by Sebastian Jung’s goal, which gave the hosts the lead.
Yet, Liverpool exhibited their resilience, finding the back of the net three times in the final 21 minutes to secure victory.
Cody Gakpo’s goal in the 69th minute and Diogo Jota’s quickfire double during stoppage time sealed a 4-2 triumph for Liverpool.
Alexis Mac Allister makes impressive debut for Liverpool
Liverpool supporters had the opportunity to witness the debut of their new summer acquisition, Alexis Mac Allister, as he took to the field wearing the iconic red shirt for the first time.
The Argentine midfielder, who joined the Merseyside club in a £35 million transfer from Brighton, made his appearance during the second half and left a lasting impression with an outstanding 45-minute display.
Mac Allister was positioned on the right side of a midfield trio, and he promptly showcased the qualities that justified Liverpool’s significant investment in him.
In the 54th minute, an excellent display of teamwork unfolded between Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota. Their intricate passing carved open an opportunity for Jota to score, although he was ultimately unable to find the back of the net.
To cap off his impressive performance, Mac Allister contributed an assist. The 24-year-old midfielder regained possession deep within Karlsruher’s half and provided the perfect setup for Jota, who took full advantage of the chance and secured a 4-2 lead.

Jota was very complimentary of his teammate following the match.
The Portuguese forward said after the game:“I really like these kinds of players. They can see these passes. You just need to make the run and they will see it and that is amazing.
“I have started to see I can link up very well with him and hopefully we can take this into the season.”
