Reports from Germany suggest that Bayern Munich is contemplating selling Sadio Mane following his altercation with teammate Leroy Sane.
Mane and Sane reportedly clashed following Bayern’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
According to BILD, Mane confronted Sane on the pitch after he was brought on as a second-half substitute. After the match, Mane allegedly expressed dissatisfaction with how Sane had spoken to him, and the situation escalated to a physical altercation, with Mane punching Sane before they were separated.
Bayern considering selling Mane this summer
Sky Sports Germany journalistFlorian Plettenbergclaims Mane will apologise to the squad in training on Thursday morning.
It remains to be seen how the Senegal international will be punished, but Plettenberg claims Bayern Munich are considering selling the player this summer – just one year after signing him from Liverpool.
“News #Mane: He has already arrived the training center this morning. He was smiling,” tweeted Plettenberg.
“Bosses have discussed several possible consequences yesterday: fine, suspension, even separation.
“Team training today at 11 am. His apology in front of the team is expected today.”
Mane left Liverpool after six years to join Bayern Munich in a £35m move last summer.
He made a promising start in Germany, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists by the middle of November.
But he then suffered an injury to a tendon in his right fibula and was forced to undergo surgery, ruling him out of the World Cup in Qatar.
After three months on the sidelines, Mane made his long-awaited return to the team last month but since then, he is yet to score and has managed only one assist for the Bundesliga leaders.
Earlier this month, new Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel gave his backing to Mane and said he expected him to rediscover his best form.
He said: “I know him well from England. There’s no question that Sadio is an absolutely top player. He scored 20, 30 goals every year for Liverpool and was an absolute key player there. His quality is beyond any doubt.
“Even at his age, it always takes time to acclimate after a change of clubs. That can take time. There’s no doubt about his quality and what it can bring us.
“It’s about trust and patience so he can get back into the rhythm.”
Bayern’s patience may now have run out.
