A Chelsea midfielder has reportedly suffered a muscle injury during training, dealing a significant setback to Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
The Blues secured Lavia from Southampton last month for a reported fee of £58 million, narrowly beating Liverpool to his signature.
Despite the high hopes surrounding the 19-year-old, he has yet to make an appearance for his new club, with expectations of his debut after the international break.
However, recent reports suggest that Lavia has sustained a training injury that might keep him out of action for an extended period.
Belgian journalistSacha Tavoliericonfirmed the news in a tweet which read: “Romeo Lavia just got injured at training session today with #ChelseaFC.

Lavia will join a whole host of injured first team stars including Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Fortunately, Chelsea boasts a wealth of midfield options, especially with the addition of Moises Caicedo from Brighton earlier in the transfer window.
Nonetheless, fans might have hoped that Lavia’s arrival would help stabilize things at Stamford Bridge, especially after the surprising 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in their previous Premier League match. Currently, Chelsea finds themselves in 12th place in what has been an underwhelming start to Pochettino’s managerial tenure. Their next match is against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, and supporters are eagerly awaiting an improvement in form.
News of Lavia’s injury comes in the wake of Dominik Szoboszlai’s girlfriend, Fanni Gecsek, engaging in a social media controversy. She liked a post on Instagram insinuating that her boyfriend played for passion, while Lavia had moved to Chelsea for financial reasons.
