Following his recall to the Cameroon squad, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has shared a cryptic message on social media.
Onana, who transferred to United from Inter Milan for £43.8 million, boasts 34 appearances for his national team. He was Cameroon’s preferred goalkeeper leading up to the World Cup in Qatar.
However, a disagreement with manager Rigobert Song led to a decision to retire from international football entirely. This move followed the disagreement he had with Song.
The ex-Ajax shotstopper appears to have had a change of heart, however, after Cameroon included him in the squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifying game against Burundi on 12 September.

His impending return comes 10 months after his last appearance and Onana has reacted to his return on Instagram.
He posted a picture of flowers, complete with the caption: “Lies give flowers but no fruit.”

Having participated in three competitive matches for United, Onana secured a clean sheet during his Premier League debut against Wolves.
If Cameroon manages to prevent defeat, the 27-year-old goalkeeper could deal a significant setback to United’s goalkeeping options.
This is because if Cameroon avoids defeat, they will secure qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for early next year.
The tournament is set to be held in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, coinciding with a busy period for Manchester United. Within this timeframe, the team is scheduled to play four matches. They will host Spurs, who defeated them 2-0 slightly over a week ago, at Old Trafford, and then face off against Wolves, West Ham, and Aston Villa.

Onana was signed to replace David de Gea and has showcased his impressive distribution.
But United face a situation where they could be without their first-choice goalkeeper for a fairly sizeable period if Cameroon progress.
They are on the verge of bringing in a back-up for Onana, with Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir closing in on a €7 million switch.
Already confirmed by former United midfielder Fred, Bayindir has been in England since Friday and an official announcement is believed to be close.
