Casemiro’s reaction to Bruno Fernandes’ stunner in the Burnley vs Man Utd match has gone viral

Bruno Fernandes delivered a goal that could contend for the Premier League’s Goal of the Season in Manchester United’s clash against Burnley on Saturday evening. The Red Devils had been struggling in recent matches, entering the game on the back of three consecutive losses.

Erik ten Hag made three changes to the lineup compared to their midweek defeat against Bayern Munich. Jonny Evans made his first start for United since 2015, stepping in for the injured Lisandro Martinez. Scott McTominay, who had faced criticism for his previous cameo, returned to the starting eleven, while Hannibal replaced Facundo Pellistri.

Manchester United didn’t hit top form in the first half against Burnley, but thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ brilliance, they entered halftime with a one-goal lead. Jonny Evans appeared to have opened the scoring midway through the first half with a header from a corner, but VAR disallowed the goal, citing Rasmus Hojlund’s offside position obstructing the goalkeeper.

Just before halftime, Fernandes ensured United had the lead with a moment of sheer brilliance. Evans spotted Fernandes’ run and delivered a sublime long ball with his weaker left foot. The Portuguese midfielder chose to take the ball on the volley, and his strike raced past James Trafford and nestled into the back of the net.

It was Fernandes’ 65th goal for Man United and it’s surely the best of the bunch. The goal was reminiscent of Robin van Persie’s iconic volley for United against Aston Villa in 2013, which was set up by Wayne Rooney. Watch Fernandes’ stunner below…

Fernandes will get all the credit for the goal and rightly so, it was a stunning hit. But what about that pass from Evans as well?! It was a brilliant pick-out from the 35-year-old, who was superb throughout at Turf Moor despite his little game-time in recent months.

Casemiro was every United fan following the goal and his reaction to it is going viral. The Brazilian midfielder looked as if he was about to cry as he emotionally embraced his teammate while appearing to say a prayer.

His actions didn’t go unnoticed by Man United supporters on social media.

One X user wrote: “Same here Casemiro, same here.”

A second said: “What’s Casemiro doing…”

A third added: “We feel the same Casemiro.”

A fourth commented: “That goal had Casemiro moving like a mid-2000s R&B singer recording a music video.”

A fifth joked: “Casemiro praying for Bruno Fernandes after the goal?”
