Diogo Jota was left furious by two of his Liverpool teammates during the Premier League clash against Brentford.
On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool were back at Anfield as they looked to get back to winning ways after two disappointing performances against Luton Town and Toulouse.
The Reds drew 1-1 away at Luton in the Premier League before losing 3-2 away at Toulouse in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Against Brentford, Jurgen Klopp’s men dominated as a brace from Mohamed Salah plus a goal from Jota sealed a comfortable 3-0 win for the Reds.
During the match, it was reported that Jota was unhappy with teammates Kostas Tsimikas and Cody Gakpo.
According toSky Sportsjournalist Peter Smith, who wrote: “It was interesting to see Jota’s reactions to those two speculative digs from Tsimikas and Gakpo in quick succession… he wasn’t impressed by the first one, when he was in a good position, and he definitely wasn’t happy to see the second crack either!
“He probably has a point – Liverpool need to have a bit more patience in their build-up.”
On the back of the victory against Brentford, Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table, just one point behind Manchester City ahead of their much-anticipated clash at the Etihad Stadium after the international break.
When asked whether Liverpool are well in the title race, Jota told Premier League Productions: “It’s still early doors. We need to keep winning to be able to be in that title fight towards the end. It is a long road.
“You never know. It’s still early days and people are fighting for their clubs. That’s what we like to see. Hopefully we are there at the end.”
Speaking toBBC’s Match of the Day, Jota added: “We are still adapting to each other and it’s still early days in the season but we will find the best ways to play together and hopefully we can keep winning matches.”
