Fans can’t believe Morgan Gibbs-White didn’t make the England squad

Gareth Southgate’s decision to leave Morgan Gibbs-White out of the latest England squad has baffled fans, after he picked Conor Gallagher and Kalvin Phillips.

The Three Lions will continue their attempts to qualify for Euro 2024 once the club season ends next month, when they take on Malta and North Macedonia.

Southgate last brought a squad together in March when they kicked off the qualifying group with big wins over Ukraine and Italy.

It leaves the team in the perfect position to make it to Germany in just over a year’s time, as long as there is no massive slip ups in the next eight games.

Ahead of Wednesday’s announcement it was claimed that Raheem Sterling was due to miss out on the squad, with Southgate resting some players.

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze and Brighton defender Lewis Dunk were amongst a number of players rumoured to be earning first call ups.

Those two were confirmed in the side but Forest star Gibbs-White was the unlucky name to miss out, despite his impressive form keeping Steve Cooper’s side in the Premier League.

Fans are not impressed that the 23-year-old has been omitted, “Gibbs-White been better than Gallagher, Phillips started 1 game all season, Henderson below par,” argued one fan.

“Gibbs white robbed, how’s Jordan Henderson still getting in?”, questioned a second.

Mentioning Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey another replied, “How Gibbs-White and Ramsey are not getting a chance in these sort of games is beyond me. Both playing well week in week out whilst the above mentioned rot on the bench.”

“Gallagher and Phillips over Gibbs-White? How? Based on performances that’s criminal,” exclaimed a fourth.

Another pointed out Phillips lack of football, replying, “Phillips in despite a combined ten minutes of league football this season.”
