Hannibal Mejbri scored his maiden goal in a Manchester United jersey, but fans have been left puzzled by his celebration.
On Saturday, the 20-year-old managed to reduce the deficit for the Red Devils during their 3-1 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
In the 73rd minute, Mejbri received an excellent pass from Lisandro Martinez and then directed the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the Seagulls’ goal.
After scoring the screamer, the Tunisian could be seen celebrating with fans in the stands of Old Trafford and pumping his fist in the air.
If a Hale End star celebrated like this when we were 3-1 down at home, I’d lose my head… pic.twitter.com/7rvoAdrgoz

A video of the celebration has since been posted on X (formerly Twitter) and has already wracked up over 230,000 views.
However, the poster wasn’t too impressed with the midfielder’s reaction to scoring while down.
They accompanied the clip with the comment: “If a Hale End star celebrated like this when we were 3-1 down at home, I’d lose my head…”
Since posting, viewers have also been having their say in the comments section.
One wrote: “They were celebrating with him. Shameless FC.”

“Yes it’s probably not the best time to celebrate but the kid got his first Premier League goal,” said another.
“3-1 down and celebrating like that,” replied a third.
However, not everyone believed that Mejbri deserves an outpouring of hate across social media.
One viewer wrote: “Nah allow him. He’s a kid. Let him celebrate his moment. It’s his fault [Andre] Onana does not know how to close his legs.”
Another said: “Bro knew they couldn’t lodge a comeback so he celebrated his moment. Just like the day Antony knew he wasn’t going to score or Casemiro celebrating an (sic) equaliser instead of looking for a winner.
“United players are very realistic, it’s the fans that are deluded.”
A third agreed and commented: “Nah, this (sic) ain’t it bro. Allow him. Imagine being 20 years old and scoring a goal at Old Trafford in front of 70K fans.
“I’d do exact same haha. I’d be fine with one of our Hale Ends did this, even 3-1 down.”
Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Brighton means that the team currently sit 12th in the Premier League table.
Their next game is scheduled for Wednesday, 20 September where they will face FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
