Gunner return to Premier League summit with big win over Shambolic Blues as Lapmard’s nightmare run continue

Chelsea have suffered a sixth straight loss under Frank Lampard after suffering a shambolic 3-1 defeat against Arsenal.

The Gunners bounced back from the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City and ended their four game winless run with a strong performance at the Emirates Stadium.

Martin Odegaard bagged a brace with two carbon copy strikes, before Gabriel Jesus added a third for Arsenal in a breathtaking first half.

Noni Madueke scored a consolation for the visitors, who saw No.9 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang touch the ball nine times in 45 minutes on his return to Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s side returned to the top of the table, at least until Manchester City play against West Ham on Wednesday.

But for Chelsea it was more misery under club legend and interim boss Lampard as they have now have lost every game he has took charge of – starting with the defeat to Wolves on 8 April.

In fact, you have to go back to 11 March, when Chelsea beat Leicester City away, for their last victory.

Chelsea are still not mathematically safe from relegation and currently in 12th place, level on points with a Bournemouth side who have recently pulled away from danger.

But if the season started on 29 October, the Blues would be in the relegation zone, having taken just 18 points from 22 games in that period.

Everton, who were managed by Lampard during that period, have accrued a mere 16 from the same amount of games.

Chelsea are back in action against Bournemouth as 12th meets 13th on Saturday, before they host 18th placed Nottingham Forest.

The west London outfit also have to play the rest of the top three, with scheduled fixtures against Manchester United, Newcastle United and Manchester United completing a very difficult run-in before the end of the season.

Owner Todd Boehly has spent close to £600 million since purchasing the club but Chelsea, with over 30 players in their squad and four managers used in the same campaign, are an absolute mess.
