How Liverpool players and staff reacted to Jurgen Klopp decision to quit the club revealed

It has been revealed how the Liverpool players and staff reacted to the news of Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave the club at the end of the 23/24 season.

Klopp has served as Liverpool’s manager since 2015, leading the team to a remarkable string of victories, including the club’s first-ever Premier League title.

Having become part of the furniture at Liverpool over the years, Klopp’s impending departure is expected to leave a significant void, leaving the club in search of a suitable replacement.

The current favourite for the job is Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso according to the latest odds.

One of the most sought-after qualities in a modern-day manager is for them to have a clear identity, and that is exactly what Jurgen Klopp has brought to Liverpool over the last nine years.

The starting 11 has also had a great deal of continuity over Klopp’s reign, with signings like Mo Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Allison amongst others maintaining a world-class level for several seasons.

All these players feel as associated with Klopp as they do with Liverpool, andThe Athletichave revealed the instant reaction from the players at Liverpool to the announcement.

“The reaction from both staff and players was complete and utter shock. Apart from the chosen few in the loop, no one saw this coming. There were tears among some members of staff,” The Athletic claim.

The details of Klopp’s speech to the players have also been revealed through The Athletic’s report.

“During his short speech to the players, Klopp joked that his exit was partly their fault because Liverpool had reached such a high level so soon that he felt he could pass the baton on to someone else. He talked up the talent in a youthful, vibrant squad. Being able to leave Liverpool in a good place.”

Despite the obvious disappointment to see Klopp leave, the players are reportedly using it as extra motivation to make this season “The Last Dance” and really go all out for the four trophies on offer for the club.

Klopp has guided Liverpool to the Carabao Cup final next month and the club remains in strong positions in the Premier League, FA Cup, and the Europa League.
