” It’s gone viral” – An old video of Kevin De Bruyne discussing Romeo Lavia resurfaces

A previously released video featuring Kevin De Bruyne praising Romeo Lavia has resurfaced on the internet, coinciding with the impending transfer of the talented midfielder to Chelsea.

Romeo Lavia garnered attention from both Chelsea and Liverpool during the summer transfer window due to his impressive displays for Southampton in the previous season.

Liverpool had reportedly secured a deal valued around £60 million for the 19-year-old, yet the player has expressed his desire to join Stamford Bridge instead.

Despite signing Moises Caicedo for a whopping £115 million from Brighton, the club also want to sign the Belgium international.

It’s claimed they are in advanced talks with the Saints over a deal for Lavia, with personal terms not expected to be a problem.

According to De Bruyne, Chelsea are on the verge of acquiring a ‘very good’ player, who has the potential to be a ‘top player’.

Asked about Lavia, he told Play Sports: “He [Lavia] is very good. He’s been training with us since the end of last year. If he continues his development, I think he’ll be a top player.”

High praise from De Bruyne, who is widely regarded as the best midfielder in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola also spoke glowingly about Lavia as he shared De Bruyne’s admiration for the teenage starlet.

“I am really impressed with what Romeo has done and is doing,” the Manchester City boss admitted. “We had, and we have, an incredible opinion about him.

“We thought to keep him, but maybe he would not (get) enough minutes like he has in Southampton.”

Lavia made two cup appearances for the Blues before transferring to the St Mary’s Stadium outfit.

Last season, he played 29 league matches as he enhanced his reputation as a budding star.

Per De Bruyne and Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino is set to call upon the services of a very talented player.
