Jamie Carragher revealed DMs from Lionel Messi live on air after publicly calling him out

Jamie Carragher has disclosed what Lionel Messi privately messaged him after Carragher criticized the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner on Sky Sports.

While Messi is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, the 36-year-old seems to have a less favorable view of former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

Carragher previously recounted the incident when Messi sent him a direct message after the Sky Sports pundit voiced concerns that the Argentine might not be an ideal signing for Paris Saint-Germain last season.

Furthermore, Carragher has now revealed that Messi referred to him as a “donkey” in response to his comments made on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

When asked by Micah Richards if Messi had ever been in his DM’s, Carragher admitted he had, before pulling out his phone to read the message.

“Is it Spanish that they speak, Argentinians?” he asked theCBSstudio, made up of Richards, Thierry Henry and host Kate Abdo.

“I’m just going to say the word he called me, I don’t understand,” he continued. “A ‘burro’. What does that mean?”

Abdo then revealed it meant “donkey”, sparking laughter in the studio, before Carragher turned to face the camera with a smile on his face, simply saying: “Thank you.”

Whilst Messi’s move to PSG didn’t quite work out, his move to Inter Miami has been quite the opposite.

The World Cup winner only made his debut on July 21, announcing himself with a match-winning free-kick in typical fashion.

He has since gone on to score 11 goals in 11 appearances, helping Inter Miami lift their first-ever trophy, the Leagues Cup. While the little magician also guided them to the final of the US Open Cup and dragged them back into contention for the MLS play-offs.
