Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Jermain Defoe has disclosed his top-four prognosis for the Premier League, leaving Thierry Henry somewhat incredulous.
On Thursday evening, both Spurs and Arsenal experienced point drops but persist as contenders for the Champions League spots. The Gunners presently hold the second position in the Premier League, with Tottenham situated in fifth.
Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat against West Ham, with Declan Rice confronting his former team, while Tottenham, lacking their primary center-back duo in Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, succumbed to a 4-2 loss against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Speaking after Arsenal’s defeat to West Ham at the Emirates Stadium, Defoe revealed his predictions for the top four in the Premier League season.
He toldAmazon Prime: “[Man] City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal. Why not?”
Henry was stunned by Defoe’s prediction, replying: “What! What did you say? Tottenham?”
The title race in the top flight of English football is heating up with Liverpool currently sitting pretty in first place following their most recent 2-0 win against Burnley.

Mikel Arteta’s team closely trails in second place, just two points behind the Reds, and teams like Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur are all within striking distance as we approach the New Year.
Despite the quality evident in each team in the upper echelons of the standings, all of them have recently experienced drops in points. City lost to Villa, Villa suffered a setback against Manchester United, Liverpool was held to a frustrating draw against Erik ten Hag’s team, and Arsenal has seen a dip in their recent form.
All these factors point towards an intriguing conclusion to the 2023/24 campaign as we enter the second half of the season.
