Roma boss Jose Mourinho has pulled no punches towards the popular free-to-play online title Fortnite after calling it a “nightmare.”
The 58-year-old Portuguese manager succeeded Paulo Fonseca as Roma head coach after the Italian side finished seventh in Serie A last season.
Fortnite, which is developed by Epic Games and initially launched in 2017, has become a cultural phenomenon both on PC and consoles.
Epic Games’ highly successful title has a legion of fans, including Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann, Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar.
But one person who isn’t a fan of Fortnite would be Mourinho, who hilariously called out the title for the effect it has on footballers.
Speaking in a quickfire Q+A, the Special One couldn’t believe that players stayed up “all night playing that s**t” ahead of matches.
Mourinho said: “Fortnite is a nightmare. Football players stay up all night playing that s**t and they have a game the next day.”

Roma’s pre-season schedule kicked off in early July and Mourinho picked up his first win in charge in a 10-0 demolition of Montecatini at the Fulvio Bernardini Sports Center.
Mourinho’s men were recently held to a 1-1 draw against former side Porto at the Campo Bela Vista.
The former Manchester United and Chelsea manager has vowed to turn Roma’s fortunes around, but he insisted that titles “will come” once the foundation has been built.
“We ended the season 29 points behind the winners and 16 points behind fourth place and we can’t escape from that reality,” Mourinho said.
“First of all, we want to understand why and understand how we can change that.
“Time is a word that we all share. That was a key word when we met with the owners for the first time. If we can accelerate the process, all the better.
“We’re not speaking about trophies. We’re speaking about time, projects and work.
“Titles will come. For the owners, a key principle is the idea they don’t want isolated success. They want to choose success and maintain success.
“That’s harder because it’s easier to get that isolated success. We want to be sustainable and we are completely united on that front. It is about hard work and the rest will come.”
