Jose Mourinho Sent Off In A Pre Season Friendly After Coming On The Pitch

Jose Mourinho went full Jose Mourinho as he managed to get himself sent off in a friendly match between his new club Roma and Real Betis.

Mourinho has never been shy of coming forward and letting officials know what he thinks of their decisions, and it’s no different even when the match isn’t competitive.

Roma were facing Betis on Saturday, in Spain, in the club’s penultimate friendly before their Serie A campaign starts in two weeks time.

The two sides were drawing and had shared four goals up to the 58th minute, when Alex Moreno put the hosts ahead, for the third time on the night.

Clearly replays showed that Moreno had somehow messed up and actually needed to use his hand to score, but with no VAR the goal stood.

Lorenzo Pellegrini was sent off after remonstrating with the referee and that made Jose run onto the pitch, only to get his marching orders.

It’s all kicked off at the Benito Villamarin! 👀

Mourinho storms the pitch after Pellegrini is shown a red card for protesting the 3rd Real Betis goal for hand ball. The 3rd time there’s been an on pitch scuffle in Roma’s last 2 games. It’s still pre season…. pic.twitter.com/9EjPZTWHER

The rest of the players obviously decided to take inspiration from their new manager, as two more managed to pick up red cards.

Gianluca Mancini picked up his marching orders in the 65th minute and Rick Karsdorp was the next man to take an early shower in the 78th minute.

Elsewhere Cristian Tello and Rober added fourth and fifth goals for the Spanish side as things completely fell apart for Mourinho’s new team.

Oh my word, what a goal that is! 😍

Mourinho took the Roma job after he was sacked from Spurs in April, less than a week before he was set to lead them into the Carabao Cup final.

The former Manchester United manager has already changed things in the Italian capital by installing a massive screen at the Roma training ground to show the players what’s happening during training.

He also seems to have made the Serie A side into a combative side in his own mould.
