Jurgen Klopp furious after press conference interrupted by jubilant Toulouse fans

Jurgen Klopp was furious after his press conference was interrupted by the sound of jubilant Toulouse fans celebrating their 3-2 victory.

Toulouse claimed a 2-0 lead over Liverpool though strikes from Aron Donnum and Thijs Dallinga.

The Reds pulled one back through a bizarre own goal from Cristian Casseres Jr, only for Frank Magri to then restore the French side’s two-goal advantage.

Substitute Diogo Jota then scored for Liverpool with two minutes of normal time remaining and nine minutes later Jarell Quansah thought he had scored to make it 3-3 with the game’s final kick.

However, VAR controversially intervened, with the ball having bounced off Alexis Mac Allister’s chest into his upper arm much earlier in the move. The goal was in turn disallowed, to the fury of Klopp.

Having already been irked by the officiating in the Europa League clash, Klopp was furious in his post-match press conference, with the sounds of the jubilant Toulouse faithful singing and playing a drum reverberating through the room.

As seen in the above video, mid-way through one of his answers Klopp, who appeared at the end of his tether, stopped and said: “Who had the idea to do the press conference here. That would be a really interesting question. Wow.”

Defeat for Group E leaders Liverpool saw Klopp’s side miss out on the win that would have qualified them for the last 16 as group winners.

The German will be particularly frustrated that his side were denied a point to a controversial VAR decision. Indeed, as per Sky Sports, IFAB laws state that an “accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence”.

Given there is little doubt Mac Allister didn’t mean to control the ball with his arm, and several players touched the ball before Quansah finished, Liverpool may have reason to feel hard done by.
