Lionel Messi Agrees Two Year Deal To Join PSG

Lionel Messi is set to become a PSG player, after agreeing a two year contract offer from the Ligue 1 side.

Messi’s time as a Barcelona player officially came to an end on Sunday afternoon, when he held a farewell press conference at the Nou Camp.

He was immediately expected to move to France, to join PSG, and Mauricio Pochettino’s team haven’t had to wait long to get their man.

According to L’Equipe, and confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Messi has agreed a move to the Parc des Princes and will be arriving in the French capital in the coming hours to complete the move.

As has previously been reported, the contract is expected to be for two years initially, with the option of a third year in France.

The 34-year-old, who recently returned from holiday after winning the Copa America earlier in the summer, will arrive on Tuesday afternoon and then have his medical.

After that the club will hold a press conference on Wednesday to announce their new signing.

Messi would be the fourth free transfer at the Parc des Princes this summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Georginio Wijnaldum having all already signed after finishing contracts at their previous clubs.

Messi had originally told Barcelona he wanted to leave the club a year ago, after being knocked out of the Champions League in embarrassing circumstances by Bayern Munich.

However on Sunday he confirmed it was only a situation a year ago and he now wanted to stay at the club.

After 21 years at Barcelona, it will be weird to see the six time Ballon d’Or winner in a PSG shirt.
