‘LiVARpool’ trended on social media following a controversial moment during Liverpool vs. Chelsea.
Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after he squeezed himself past Chelsea’s backline to find the back of the net.
But moments before Jota’s goal, Chelsea thought they should have been awarded a penalty following a clash between Conor Gallagher and Virgil van Dijk.
The Blues midfielder ran past the Liverpool defender, who brought down the player inside the box.
But match referee Paul Tierney failed to point to the spot as VAR upheld the on-field decision.
The incident left Chelsea fans online fuming over the decision as they made their feelings clear.
One X user wrote: “LiVARpool strikes again.”
A second tweeted: “How is this not a penalty on Gallagher??? LiVARpool at it again.”
A third added: “LiVARpool are a f**king disgrace.”
A fourth fumed: “Absolute joke. LiVARpool strikes again.”
Another commented: “LiVARpool strikes again. Unreal. Premier League really want Liverpool to win it this season.”
To make matters worst for Chelsea, Conor Bradley fired home a low strike before the break to double Liverpool’s lead.
