Manchester United fans expressed their frustration with Scott McTominay after a specific moment during their defeat to Bayern Munich.

In an exhilarating Champions League Group A match at the Allianz Arena, the Bundesliga giants secured a 4-3 victory over the Red Devils. This outcome propelled Bayern to the top of Group A, following a 2-2 draw between Galatasaray and Copenhagen earlier in the day. Meanwhile, Manchester United finds themselves at the bottom of the group after just one game, intensifying the pressure on Erik ten Hag.

The match offered numerous talking points, including Andre Onana’s error that gave Bayern the lead, Harry Kane’s contentious penalty, and Sergio Reguilon’s outstanding performance.

Scott McTominay’s lack of effort in attempting to regain possession after losing the ball on the edge of Bayern Munich’s penalty area stood out to Manchester United supporters.

Following a heavy touch and conceding possession to Dayot Upamecano, the Scottish international appeared to look down and jog back slowly, even though he had only been on the pitch for 10 minutes.

Fans were quick to react to the midfielder’s lack of effort, with one person tweeting: “Disgraceful and uncharacteristic for Scott — there’s something badly going wrong behind the scenes.”

“Unacceptable,” another added.

“So Mr passion and desire shows no passion and desire,” a third wrote.

While a fourth exclaimed: “Even the ref runs faster than him. All the goals against us have been midfielders not tracking back. Mainly Scott and Eriksen.”

A fifth remarked: “I thought I was the only person who saw it. An opportunity he would have used to stake a claim before the return of [Sofyan] Amrabat and Kobbie [Mainoo]. Once these two are back in the team plus [Mason] Mount, McTominay is finished.”
