Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes responds to criticism with a cryptic post

Bruno Fernandes appears to have addressed the criticism directed at him following Manchester United’s significant loss to Tottenham.

Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham during their Premier League match last Saturday.

Two goals in the second half led to Postecoglou securing his first victory in the English top flight since his appointment in the summer.

Following the result, critics, including figures like Roy Keane and Micah Richards, criticized the performance of the Red Devils’ captain.

Keane said: “I look at Mount, Fernandes, when they’re out of position, they look like schoolboys in there. They haven’t got the physicality to get the ball back.”

Richards pinpointed the incident between Fernandes and Facundo Pellistri, adding: “It’s getting embarrassing now. The young lad Pellistri comes on. Fernandes is trying to get his team playing and I totally understand he’s frustrated.

“Pellistri made a run, Fernandes didn’t see him and [so] he made a different run but because he wasn’t where [Fernandes] wanted him to be, he’s going off at Pellestri.

“It’s every time. I saw an interview with him the other day and he said he needs to be emotional when he performs because it makes him play better.

“But I feel like his body language on the pitch is disturbing the rest of the team and it’s just not a good look at all. It’s pathetic at times.”

It appears the criticism has provoked a reaction from the Portuguese as he took to social media to post a cryptic video.

He shared a recent speech from former Super Bowl winner and Major League Baseball player-turned-College Football coach Deion Sanders.

“Look at me… what about me, would make you think that I care about your opinion of me,” he says in the clip. “Your opinion of me is not the opinion that I have of myself.

“You ain’t make me… so you can’t break me.”

Fernandes and Co resume their league campaign on Saturday when Man United host Nottingham Forest.
