Mason Greenwood’s imminent decision is backed by both Man Utd players and Erik ten Hag

With a decision on his future anticipated in the near future, Mason Greenwood reportedly enjoys the backing of Manchester United players and manager Erik ten Hag.

Since January 2022, Greenwood has been absent from United’s lineup following his arrest on charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling behavior.

Nevertheless, in February of this year, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood.

Since then, United have been investigating internally and a decision regarding Greenwood’s future with the club is set to be announced soon.

Last week,The Sunreported that Greenwood has the support of the players.

A source told the publication: “All the players believe he deserves a second chance because he’s innocent in the eyes of the law.

“Some of the younger players came through the academy with him so there’s a loyalty to him. They know he’s made mistakes but the lads who’ve spoken to him say he’s grown up a lot in the past 18 months and will come back a lot wiser.

Now,The Sunclaimed that Ten Hag is also supportive of Greenwood.

A source said: “Mason is working harder than ever on the training pitch. He’s desperate to return to the side as soon as possible and wants to put the last 18 months behind him.

“Talks about his future are in the final phase and the players and the manager are behind him. The only thing that remains to be decided is whether he returns to first-team action or goes out on a season-long loan.”

Over the last few weeks, Greenwood has been linked with a loan move away from United.

Clubs in Turkey and Italy have reportedly registered interest in signing the 21-year-old on a temporary basis.

Ultimately, the decision will be made by United CEO Richard Arnold and owner Joel Glazer.

United are back in Premier League action on Monday as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.
