Paul Pogba put in a brilliant performance as France opened their Euro 2020 campaign with victory over Germany, and it left many Manchester United fans wondering why he couldn’t produce like that for them.
Pogba was really in the mood on Tuesday night as France beat Germany 1-0, thanks to Mats Hummels’ own goal in the first half, but it could have been more.
The midfielder was integral to the move that led to the goal and was also involved in both Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema’s disallowed goals late on, as he helped control the game in the centre of the pitch.
He was involved in everything in the game, even the bizarre incident that saw Antonio Rudiger accused of taking a nibble at the Frenchman.
His individual highlights package shows exactly why he was awarded the official ‘Star of the Match’ prize at the end of the game.
Whilst it seems like the latest incredible performance from the former Juventus midfielder for his national team, it did leave fans of Manchester United scratching their heads.
The 28-year-old, who could potentially head back to Turin as part of a swap for Cristiano Ronaldo, certainly had his moments last season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team but even those were fleeting.
Fans took to social media to question why their club-record signing seems like a man transformed when he plays for Les Blues.
While Pogba did improve his form for United in the latest campaign, he ended it with just three goals and three assists in the Premier League.
If only Solskjaer could sign N’Golo Kante to play at Old Trafford…
