Phil Foden’s highlights against Newcastle are awe-inspiring; he truly stood out

A compilation video showcasing Phil Foden’s remarkable performance for Manchester City against Newcastle has gained widespread attention.

The skillful English player played a pivotal role in City’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle on Saturday, effectively stepping in to compensate for the absence of the injured Kevin De Bruyne.

Foden provided an assist for City’s lone goal, scored by Julian Alvarez, and adeptly utilized space to connect plays by positioning himself in strategic pockets on the field.

The victory maintains his side’s 100% record so far this season and they face a trip to newly promoted side Sheffield United next.

As well as the goal contribution Foden made seven key passes and even blocked two shots, according toSofaScore, showing he can track back defensively as well.

A compilation video of some of his best moments during the game was posted on social media by a fan and has since gone viral.

He was given a slightly different role to play by manager Pep Guardiola, starting centrally as opposed to out wide.

Speaking after the game toTNT Sports, Foden explained how his manager told him to play in a certain way.

“The manager told me to play more inside today, in between the lines, it’s a role that I enjoy,” he said.

“I managed to pick up a good space [for Alvarez’s goal], Kovacic saw me and I’ve seen Julian early and he has this instinct for goal.”

It seems Pep might finally be getting the best out of the talisman who has had to fight to earn his place in the City starting eleven.

He started on the bench for last season’s FA Cup and Champions League finals as they secured a historic treble.

If his performance against Newcastle doesn’t show his manager that he’s good enough to replace the injured De Bruyne on a frequent basis then nothing will.
