PSG ultras unveil an anti-Lionel Messi banner outside Inter Miami stadium ahead of his MLS debut

Paris Saint-Germain supporters conveyed their feelings about their departed icon Lionel Messi before his Major League Soccer debut for Inter Miami.

As anticipated, Messi’s introduction to MLS took a classic Messi turn – he scored a goal, much to the elation of the exultant Inter Miami fans present at the away match.

The goal was particularly remarkable not only due to its execution but also for being conceived and executed by Messi himself. It arrived in the 89th minute of the match, effectively securing the victory for his team.

However, prior to the match, his former PSG fans made certain to voice their sentiments regarding Messi’s departure by displaying an anti-Messi banner outside the DRV PNK stadium.

The Parisian club’s Ultras have openly expressed their sentiments towards Messi in the past, even protesting against his unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia during the previous season.

Messi’s strained relationship with the PSG fanbase has been extensively covered, and it appears they were ultimately content to see the departure of the World Cup-winning Argentine.

In a recent interview, Messi mentioned a ‘disconnect’ between him and the PSG fans, shedding light on the challenges he faced in adapting to life within the Ligue 1 champions.

Meanwhile, fast forward to present day, Messi seems to have had no problems in adjusting to life in the States, lifting the Leagues Cup with his Inter Miami team-mates. Now, he’s gotten off to the best start possible in the MLS as well.

The ultras of PSG have been similarly ruthless in their treatment of other stars at the club in the past, with Neymar at the receiving end of a great deal of criticism from their side as well.

They unveiled a banner, containing the same words as the Messi banner, towards the Brazilian during their Ligue 1 clash against Lens on Saturday.

In any case, it looks as though the bridges between Messi and PSG fans are not going to be rebuilt any time soon, with the Argentine star continuing to dazzle in the States with a new-found home at Inter Miami.
